Day 1

So there I was. An only child who hadn't spent a day without his parents now at the forefront of spending 5 whole days without them. But I wasn't scared.  Day 1 For the first time in my life had I woken up on my own by an alarm, that too at 6 am. I got out of bed, made it and took my toothbrush out of my suitcase. It was a new day and a new experience. I walked to the shared bathroom being one of the first ones there and brushed my teeth. I had gotten ready by 7 and walked down. We booked a taxi on Uber and were off to my Dadi's (Grandmother) home in the Lajpat Nagar area. The major difference I realised when on the open road was the width and quality of the road. Here in Maharashtra we have narrow roads with several potholes (I guess it makes the journey mor...

In big letters on a site I had seen for the first time in my life it was written, Ashoka Young Scholars Program . Now, at the time, believe me, I had no idea about what it was or how prestigious it was to be able to go to Ashoka University. I just agreed and sent in my application. I had to fill in all of my details and then my certifications, but most importantly was the essay. Out of 3 choices I chose one This is what I had written. I laugh at how scared I had felt before submitting it in: Please choose any ONE prompt from the choices given below for your essay and attempt it in maximum 250 words. This is a mandatory requirement It's 2050, how has the world changed? It's the year 2050, and the world has drastically changed for the worse. Climate change has made the Earth warmer in winter and hotter in summer. N...
